Their shared vision is to tackle food poverty, teach essential cooking skills, and celebrate Cornwall’s rich culinary heritage, all while making a lasting impact on the lives of disadvantaged children and families. United by their love for pasties and their dedication to empowering communities, these three founders have combined their expertise to create a program that brings people together through food, learning, and connection.
Proudly Cornish, I love our country it’s rich history coastline and the people within it. I have always been drawn to the sea, Cornish pilot gig Rowing on it and surfing in it.
I have worked in the catering industry in Cornwall my whole life. I’ve been lucky enough to carry on the legacy of Anns Pasties and being my mum. I’m a third generation Pasty maker with our recipe derived from Porthleven.
My drive to start the Pasty box was when I started to realise people in Cornwall were going hungry especially children. not on our watch!
I was born in Helston in 1987 and grew up in a family rooted in local culture, with both parents working at the Horse and Jockey pasty shop. My connection to home-cooked pasties inspired many of my future ventures. After studying drama and theatre at the University of Winchester, I spent a decade managing boutique hotels before retraining as a primary school teacher at Marazion Primary School. In 2021, I met Ferg, and along with Adam, we developed the concept for The Pasty Box—a project that celebrates Cornwall’s rich culinary traditions while fostering community through the shared joy of good food.
Cornish born and bred, I have spent most of my life in Falmouth and developed a deep connection to our local community. I’ve been rowing Cornish Pilot Gigs since the age of 12, achieving eight world championship titles in the sport. I began my career as a teacher in 2006, and over the years, including the last six as a Headteacher, I’ve witnessed the profound effects of deprivation and seasonal poverty on Cornwall’s children and families.
This experience drives my passion for The Pasty Box. I believe this initiative has the power to make a real, lasting impact across the county by providing children with the skills and resources they need to break cycles of hardship, develop confidence, and lead healthier lives.
